MovieHunt AI is operated by CPHTech (cphtech.dk), a company registered in Denmark. CPHTech is the data controller responsible for your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our service. By using MovieHunt AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We collect information in the following categories:

Account information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from the provider. Apple users may choose to hide their email, in which case we receive a private relay address. If you sign up with email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password.

Profile information

If you create a director profile, you may provide a display name, bio, avatar, website URL, and social media handles. This information is publicly visible on the platform.

Content

We store the films, comments, and votes you submit to the platform.

Technical information

We automatically collect certain technical data when you use our service, including your IP address, browser type, device information, and usage patterns.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process your submissions and manage your account
• Send you updates about hunts, votes, and community activity
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance the user experience
• Protect against abuse and enforce our terms of service

Under the GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (account and service delivery), our legitimate interests (security, analytics, and platform improvement), and your consent where required (such as for marketing communications).

MovieHunt AI is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age. If we learn that we have collected data from a user under 16, we will promptly delete their account and all associated data. We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the following categories of third parties to operate the platform:

Service providers

• Cloudflare — Content delivery network, edge security, and media storage (R2). All web traffic is routed through Cloudflare.
• Neon — Database hosting, located in the EU.
• App Monitor (CPH Tech) — Error monitoring. May receive IP addresses, browser information, and error context.
• Cloudflare Email Service — Transactional email delivery. Receives your email address when we send you notifications.
• Modal — Video transcoding. Processes uploaded video files on US-based infrastructure. See International Data Transfers below.

All service providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and process it only for the purposes we specify.

Legal authorities

We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

Business transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity.

MovieHunt AI is based in Denmark. Your data is primarily processed within the EU/EEA. Some of our service providers process data outside the EEA:

• Modal (video transcoding) processes uploaded video files on US-based infrastructure.
• App Monitor (error monitoring) runs on Cloudflare's edge network.
• Cloudflare may route and cache data through global edge locations.

Where data is transferred to countries outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission or adequacy decisions.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or dispute resolution purposes. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes indefinitely.

MovieHunt AI uses cookies to maintain your authentication session and remember your preferences. These are essential cookies required for the platform to function. We may also use analytics tools to understand how the platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences, though disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the platform.

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to our processing of your data; and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
